Friday

We opened a very nice HOT/Youth/Obedience Championship yesterday at the University of Akron's famed Rubber Bowl. One of the club members from OG Penn-Ohio was musing that the last time he was there was to see the Rolling Stones in concert.

We started with nice performances from several dog and handler teams in the Obedience Championships. You can check out those scores at the Results page. Tom Shelly with Byela von Donnertal and Robert Miller with Ukon du Belle Pratique posted matching high scores of 91.

Mary Schweitzer is posting the scores in real time from the Rubber Bowl sidelines — from the judge to you in Internet Time!

Today, we started the HOT entries. We also had reporters present from the Akron Beacon-Journal and from WKYC, the NBC affiliate in Cleveland.

Time to get washed up, feed the dogs and hit the Judge's Dinner. OG Buckeye is hosting it on the patio of the Galaxy Restaurant. The weather is perfect on this, the longest day of the year.

A few photos from today …

Dominic Scarberry handled Vimo v Alschbachtal to a very nice SchH3 protection score of 94 for the Youth competition. Here, USA Helper John Bochenek catches Vimo on the courage test.
Ron Harris' dog, Guyot von Bachhaus, presented this very nice form as he sailed over the hurdle. Ron and Guyot piled up a day's high obedience score of 92.
Ron Harris' dog, Guyot von Bachhaus, explodes out of the heeling postion on the send out exercise. USA Judge Mike Caputo looks on.
